This high-flying single-panel comic spotlights and savors the foibles, stupidity, and goofiness of our colorful unnatural world. It's all about attitude, as the denizens of Bluemel's realm devote themselves to surviving life's pitfalls, whether nesting in quicksand or coping with the technological advances of the tapeworm. From word play to fowl play, from weirdness in the wilderness, to the irony of iron ore, Birdbrains makes the offbeat seem natural. It's a feature to laugh at: if it makes you think, you're working too hard.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen Thom do a four panel comic.
I like it.

Notice that the bald eagle which picks up the bully and carries him off is a whole lot larger than the one which the wimpy guy has.
West of Tulsa, OK, out by the Keystone Reservoir along the Arkansas River, is a Bald Eagle nesting place. It is illegal for anyone except federal and/or state employees to go into that wooded area.
I haven’t been out there in years; but, I used to see lots of eagles flying over the river.

doesn’t say a whole lot for the female—
—here she is strolling along the beach with her man….
and after he is grabbed and spirited away she seems destressed at his sudden departure…. ….
then, for reasons only known to her little mind, she ignores his screams and walks off with the nerd and the bird…….while he is devoured by sharks……
there is a moral to this story; never swim at a beach without a lifeguard present
hey, I can ramble too!

Hey, guys, doesn’t anyone remember the muscle-building ads in the old comic book days? Charles Atlas - famous ad. A big strong guy with a pretty girl comes along, kicks sand in a skinny guys face and laughs. Our hero decides he’s tired of being picked on, sends away for the course, and next it shows HIM, big and strong, and back on the beach he knocks the bully down while the girl now adores HIM, of course, and says something about him being her hero. Every kid wanted to send away and become big and strong. You know the ads, right by the x-ray glasses or the throw your voice device, or sell Cloverine Brand Salve and make lots of money, or sea monkeys, or………
Thom just decided to shorten the process with an eagle.

JAD, the bird in second panel only looks bigger because of the wingspan.
That’ll teach the bully not kick sand in someone’s face.
