Good morning, Cleo. What’s cooking?
Dawn said, 5 months ago
Cleo you are so right! It could also be Canadian or British - or all three!
Or what about Dancing with the Big Toppers?
Dawn said, 5 months ago
OK - Wha’ happened to the Yappy Nuts?
Breakfast anyone?
Omelet with bacon, tomato, red peppers and mushrooms topped with Canadian cheddar cheese
JFri said, 5 months ago
You are not alone, young Skywalker.
JFri said, 5 months ago
Dawn, I’ll take an omelet, less the peppers, please? Morning, marg!

You were in Portland Saturday night, weren’t you? You like to go naked, you like to ride your bike and it was the Annual Ride Your Bike Naked ride!
JFri said, 5 months ago
marg, sorry I missed you! Not much new happening here! Just another weekend of geocaching & clam digging with Cache running himself ragged!
Akenta said, 5 months ago
Good morning and Happy Monday!!
I’ve only seen one season of American Idol (the one where Reuben won) and never had the desire to watch it again. I’m not sure how American Sideshow Idol would be.

Sorry, but too early to be clever, I guess. I will say g’morning and g’day to those who are around or passing through. The only American Idol I followed was the last four or five episodes with David Cook. Something about his singular presentation of the music was exciting and fresh. His rendition of “Billie Jean” was amazing. Glad he won. Uh-oh…is this becoming politicsl (wink, snerk)
Better make the rounds. P, L & S all!

From last night - Glad to know I’m not the only one who has trouble remembering all the books I own.
I get some funny looks when I drag an inventory list into the used book store, but it does prevent duplications.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen an entire episode of American Idol.
Watched the first few seasons of Survivor and I liked The Surreal Life, but that’s as far as I’ve gone with ‘reality’ TV.
Hello to the early posters from last night -
cleo, marg, Dawn, and JFri

cleo I read yesterday’s posts that were up after I got off for the night, and you say I’m the same height as your wife. I think you got me confused with someone else, since I haven’t said how tall I am. I’m 5’5”, BTW.
Rmom said, 5 months ago
doc I know very few people besides myself who keep a list of books they own, so I’m glad to know you do too!
I have had several other homeschoolers look at mine, and wish they did. I figured as much $ as I have invested in books, my insurance company wouldn’t believe me if I didn’t keep good records, in the event something happened.

RRAmom - My book lists need to be updated. I went a little nuts last spring and summer. I was hitting the garage sales and used book store weekly. Still haven’t finished reading them all.

Dry - Don’t blame me, it’s all Boots’ fault.
The worlds’ naughtiest cat doesn’t want to take any chances at losing his title.
He’s just lucky that he’s so durn cute.
cleo - I was 5’8” once, don’t want to know what I am now.

I like that most of these ladies are a huggable height.

doc I try to enter my books in my database immediately after purchase. That way, I also put in how much I paid for it, and where I bought it, while I can still find the receipt (or remember). I have plenty of books I haven’t read yet. We’re doing history chronologically, using real books, instead of textbooks. So I generally wait until when we’re studying that time frame to read those books. However, I love reading fiction from the library, and if I run across any that I think my guys will enjoy, I read them (aloud) to the whole family. Makes long drives through boring countryside more interesting and gives us something to talk about as a family.

RRAmom - Most of my book collection is science fiction and fantasy.
I started branching out a few years ago.
A lot of the books I bought last summer were books I never would have bought before.
I really hope that’s not a sign that I’m growing up.

doc While I love owning books, I’ve found it much more practical for me to utilize the libraries. I just don’t have the space to store more books, even if I buy them cheaply. My rule-of-thumb for buying is that I can’t borrow it somewhere, and need it for school. Most other books if we wait a little, can be checked out through libraries. In KS you can request an “inter-library loan” if your local library doesn’t carry it. Therefore, I have access to almost all the libraries in KS, at no cost. (Other than my tax dollars, of course.)

Let’s just go with ”Le Big Absent-Top” - ‘cause only the Mindless Minority would watch THAT.
Oh, well, it’s the Mindless MAJORITY that watch that ”Idjitty Idol” show……

RRAmom - I get my moneys worth out of books.
I rarely buy them new, and there are some I’ve read several times.
Several of my young tribelings around here like to read.
I’m pretty liberal with lending.
None of them want to risk the bad karma from ripping off the old Shaman for a book.
LOL

I have never watched American Idol, and have no plans to do so. Antique Roadshow I’ve only watched because my mom had it on when I was visiting, so I had no choice.

A few years ago when my son moved out was the first time in my life I had lived completely alone.
I could watch anything I wanted.
Turns out there wasn’t much on I really wanted to see.
I parked the TV on the History Channel for sound while I was archiving and left it there for most of a year.
Lately I’ve found I like music better anyway.
Been nearly a month since I canceled the cable and I don’t even notice the difference.

Peace and Love all.

doc - I am sure your youngsters are appreciative of your willingness to loan. If we lived closer, my sons would want to become part of your tribe, so they could borrow from your collection.
Several years ago my sister took my sons to visit a friend of hers, who is single & childless. My youngest son looked around, and expressed amazement that there wasn’t anything to read at this friend’s house. He knew better than to expect toys, but he’d never been in a house before that didn’t have at least newspapers or magazines to read.
