“Jazz is like Jell-O Pudding Pops. No, Jazz is like Kodak film. No, wait, Jazz is like the New Coke. It’ll be around forever, heh heh heh”-‘Bill Cosby’ on The Simpsons.

Of course when that episode was made, nobody expected film to decline in use as it has.

Utah jazz is a basketball team
NightHawk2005 said, 3 months ago
Pretty simple. As Pow refers to a group as a singular thing, it would be singular. A team nickname is always in the plural form.

American English and British English refer to teams/groups with singular names (Utah Jazz, West Ham United, Iron Maiden, Megadeth) in different grammatical ways. American English is generally singular (“The Utah Jazz is playing well.” “Megadeth is a classic thrash metal band) while British English refers to them in the plural form (”West Ham United are commonly referred to as ’The Acadamey Of Football." “Black Sabbath are often regarded as the first heavy metal band.”). Do you refer to a singular group as a unique entity (thus “is”) or a collection of individuals (“are”)?
