I’m pretty sure Alex had nothing to do with the clause. Her job is just to tell people that the company doesn’t want them anymore. Still, it would be impossible to work with her.
I am interested in seeing how this plays out. Will her current employer run for the money by teaming with Betty’s former employer and just keeping her in the distance, stand by her by refusing to work with the old company on principle (and stating so), or try to work out a compromise that allows them to accept the project but keep Betty in the fold of it as well (if she even wants to be in the fold).
I was under the impression Betty was let go because the CEO wanted to cut overhead. (and that always means getting rid of employees). Not let go due to cause. Which should be the only reason to have that nasty clause in her termination papers. . oh, and way yes! want to see the results of this story arc!
Betty is a smart, savvy comic character who is unapologetically ordinary, happy and female. Betty is a truly modern woman - a wife, mother and working woman.

Beware of a pilot project with betty’s former job. Somebody is liable to be thrown out of the plane.
