They need a market with: 1) more than one self-checkout lane, and 2) an attentive store associate to help the doofi.

Santorini is a nice place, yes! (even if the sunset is not that fantastic…)

Yet another reason I refuse to use self checkout. reason 1 is the poor sucker that no longer has a job.

Last time I was in a Target, the manager actually pushed me towards the self-checkout. I dropped my items and left. Haven’t been back. I’m an early adopter of useful technology, like ATMs, Self-checkout, not.

Amen to that. If it was easy everyone would be doing it. They’re not!

I prefer them. It’s a lot faster to check myself out. Unless of course I run into morons.

There are usually instructions on the self-checkouts. To bad most people ignore them or can’t read. Plus, I’ve never seen any self-checkout without someone nearby at a podium like desk to help customers.

The self-checkout lines are usually the shortest, so I can get out of the store faster. Once more people start figuring out how to use them, the lines will lengthen and I’ll stop using them.

Part of my grocery bill is supposed to go to paying the wages of the checker. If I use the self-checkout line, that part is pure profit for the store. That’s why I never use it.

Wrong. The grocery business is highly competitive. Stores operate on tiny markups. If your store doesn’t pass on savings to the customer (lower prices), it will lose business to those that do.

Lower prices loose their appeal when you have to stand in line for 5 minutes and then get behind a coupon clipper.

The self checkout line at my local grocery store is short, because no one can fit more than one bag of groceries on the check out scale. Today I did a second bag and the machine kept freaking out, as it couldn’t sense the pie I got. It kept saying “Rescan the last item again” until finally a cashier came over.
