    Quick! Fetch the government shutdown!
    -
We must fend off the horrifying prospect of a healthier citizenry.

    -
Republicans/Fox “news” viewers hatred of Obama has extended to hatred of the country that elected and re-elected him.

“I’ve never seen a time when a major political party was just sitting around, begging for America to fail. It’s chilling to me. It just seems spiteful.” Bill Clinton

Clever depiction of the irrationality that is holding our government hostage.

“My name is Ashley Dionne and I’m a 26-year-old recent graduate from Michigan.

The phony Obamacare signup poster boy made me want to send a message about how Obamacare is really affecting people.

I graduated from The University of Michigan in 2009. In my state, this used to mean something, but even with a bachelor’s I was told I was too educated and wouldn’t stay. I watched as kids with GEDs and high school diploma’s took the low-paying jobs for which I applied.

I went back to school and got a second degree and finally found work at a gym. I work nights and only get 32 hours a week for eight dollars an hour. I’m unable to find a second job at this time.

I have asthma, ulcers, and mild cerebral palsy. Obamacare takes my monthly rate from $75 a month for full coverage on my “Young Adult Plan,” to $319 a month. After $6,000 in deductibles, of course.

Liberals claimed this law would help the poor. I am the poor, the working poor, and I can’t afford to support myself, let alone older generations and people not willing to work at all.

This law has raped my future.

It will keep me and kids my age from having a future at all.

This is the real face of Obamacare and it isn’t pretty."

And that time, (1995) the shutdown was primarily done by Republicans. This time, (2013) it is primarily the fault of Democrats.

I am sorry to read of your plight. I wish I could say I was surprised.

Every administration since that of Mr. Nixon has either tried, or pretended to try, to change our broken health care system. I will give props to Mr. Obama and the Democrats for succeeding in changing it.

But as one of my professors used to always say, “Right thinking, wrong answer.”

There is no doubt Obamacare is flawed. However, we have had 5 years to do something about it, whether that something is to amend it or to replace it with a better plan. The Dems don’t want to do anything because they know that if they want to change 2%, the Republicans will scream that the dems have agreed that it is 100% wrong.

The Repubs don’t want to do anything, because they would prefer to see the plan fail than to help the people they were elected to represent. In their minds, the best way to gain power is to give the dems enough rope to hang themselves, and if the public suffers, if the world economy collapses….well, the ends justify the means.

Pitiful childish behavior on both sides; fiddling while Rome burns.

I hope soon we come to our senses, adopt single-payer, and move on. I won’t be holding my breath.

All we can do in the meantime is petition our “representatives” for meaningful change. They hold tremendous power for change and improvement, and they choose to do absolutely nothing. This is beyond infuriating.

I Play One On TV: The main problem with Obamacare is that it was first proposed by the Reich-wing Heritage Foundation, had its trial run in Massachusetts under George Romney, and is now attacked by the Koch puppets as being “socialist”. And all the time there is a workable law that would only require changing “province”: to “state” and “Canada” to “United States” to climb us out of our current 37th in the world in health care (WHO).

Yes, one wonders what Obamacare has to do with failure to get a job, for example. And why she is not appreciative of the fact the Obamacare protects her from being discriminated against for her pre-existing conditions. It seems to me that she hasn’t made a coherent point here at all, but has pushed the buttons with the term “raped”.

The ACA is a simple issue. Leave it alone and eventually it will evolve into a single payer like medicare. Or it will fail on it’s own merits. It is truly sad our country is so fucked up right now. It will be interesting to see what the people decide in the 2014 election. “Soap box time”, vote Libertarian…

Except that as people get a look at Obamacare they are finding the program is anything, anything, but “affordable.”
