Tired of "politically correct?" Want an editorial cartoon that is quick to call out the bumblings of U.S. politics and cuts slack to no one? Pulitzer-Prize winner Ben Sargent is paying attention and making Washington have second thoughts about that little thing called the First Amendment.

Could this mean there are many Catholics in the Third World, and that their time has come that a native of a Third World country will become Pope?

It is a private club, just because dues are collected worldwide does not change the exclusivity of the club.
.
There will NOT be what they consider a second class member in charge, not ever.

Listen guys, before John Paul II there was never a Pope who was not Italian, things are changing with the Catholic Church so let’s see who the next Pope will be before you make our comments.

Except for those Popes that weren’t Italian (Like the Spanish Borgias) there were never non Italian Popes.
.
I think that’s what you meant to say; right?
ReasonsVentriloquist said, 3 months ago
Wait a second, Third World…? European?…. That IS Italy!
.
The Pope is going to be Greek Orthodox?
ReasonsVentriloquist said, 3 months ago
One more thing.
.
Why couldn’t this guy wait till after Easter? One more Easter Mass. Now we’ll be Pope Out Of Pocket for most of the Catholic’s most highest High Holy days!

It might be in your favor to have been a Nazi.
Fear of a black pope.

Check the history before writing. There have already been two popes from north Africa.

“…things are changing with the Catholic Church so let’s see who the next Pope will be before you make our comments.”
Well, I’m at least going to wait until the candidates name their running mates before expressing my preference.
Paul Ryan for Vice-Pope!

“When will those A-Holes even consider someone from the US (who provides MOST of the MONEY sent to the Vatican for Humanitarian uses!!!) and is PROPERLY given credit for all of its accomplishments, then MAYBE a US Cardinal MIGHT be considered.”
I read in the paper this morning that something like 54% of the world’s Catholics live in “the Americas”, but bear in mind that that includes Central and South America. So why not an Argentine Pope or a Peruvian Pope?
olfart said, 3 months ago
Where do I send my resume? I could do that job. The pope is infallible. I couldn’t mess it up!
Being non-catholic could be a drawback, I suppose.

“Being non-catholic could be a drawback, I suppose.”
Idiomatically, if nothing else.
On the other hand, if the answer to “Does a bear poop in the woods?” might be “No” (some poop in zoos or circuses), perhaps “Is the Pope Catholic?” can be allowed equal uncertainty.
