Truer then a LOT of people will ever admit…after all, 2 or 3 AK-47s are a LOT cheaper then an H-1 Hummer, or even Plastic Surgery to correct some obvious ..er…Shortcomings!

Now Biden says that Obama can use executive order to enact gun laws. You know there are more dangerous things then a nut shooting a bunch of people, I know it is hard to believe for some but it is true.

7,059,000,000 / ( 365.25 * 75 ) people die each day, 3 each second?

There is a lot of situations where executive order is practical, especially when there are federal resources that have to be directed at an emergency (flood, hurricane, etc). There are other times when something is not consequential or constitutionally mandated for congress to get involved in. I do get concerned when the executive branch decides that they don’t want to wait for congress or want to circumvent the congressional process because they don’t think their interests will be properly served.
I understand everybody’s sense of urgency over gun control issues and their frustration with congress over budget/deficit issues. That is still no reason for a president to act as if he is above the mandate of the constitution. Every president uses executive order for their own purposes and often it is considered expeditious to get something done and people don’t object. When dealing with the 2nd and 14th amendments politics be damned, we need to abide by the process of law.
If the political interests aren’t served to our satisfaction by our elected representatives then vote in new ones. If you are so frustrated with a current situation get out your marching boots and take to the streets and demonstrate. That’s what we did during Viet Nam and trust me, it got their attention.

This is not totally correct. There are things the Obama-administration can do on the executive side. Issuing a law is not among them. But ENFORCING the laws that are already on the books, that’s different. And who could be against it? You?

The executive branch of our government is not in the enforcement business. The Justice Department is. By definition, if they are going to “create” new laws to enforce existing ones, that is still an issue that is initiated by congress.

Reminds me of those same people who ran out to buy the same gun used to kill the twenty children. There is something really mentally ill in this whole gun fixation.

The Justice Department is not a fourth branch of government, it is a part of the Executive Branch. Read your constitution. It is precisely the job of the Executive branch to execute the laws.

The gun show at the Florida State Fairgrounds is usually in December.
It costs $8 to get in but kids get in FREE!
They only accept cash, no credit cards.
What could go wrong there?

In this case, I agree with you wholeheartedly. That is dangerous. Let’s do it right so we don’t have to do it over.

@motivemagus “It is precisely the job of the Executive branch to execute the laws.”
Okay, I’ll buy that. But execution means directing resources or co-coordinating Federal agencies. It still stops at creation of a new law or even an amendment/addition to a new law. The issue is creation of new laws, not co-ordination or enforcement of existing law. If that’s an incorrect assumption I’d like to see your reference to refute it.

From http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/biden-obama-might-use-executive-order-deal-guns_694984.html :
“But we’re compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and the rest of the cabinet members as well as legislative action that we believe is required.”

Read the John Yoo memo from GWB’s administration to see how close the U.S. came to martial law!

Once the U.S. Constitution is relegated to “just a god-damned piece of paper” – all bets are off.

No no no, you don’t get it! What Obama/Biden are going to do is like in “The Untouchables”: go after the bad guys with the laws that are there, but with every cop you have!
-
That could take a weird form, like suing states for not following federal laws. Or making sure that federal laws are applied consistently, even against the indifference and sloppiness of local police.
-
We will have to see what Phase One will yield. And then there will be Phase Two. And Phase Three. You are very violent people, you need to be reigned in…

Come on folks it is political cartoon, not a statement of reality.

Only Pistols were used in shooting the children. The AK-15 was found locked in the Trunk the car and never fired.
Since you do not have a gun and someone with a gun comes to you house to rob you, they will rob and kill you and you will be found hours or days alter and the Police will rope off your property as a Crime Scene and the will never find the killler
