If it weren’t for the buses they’d never find the place on their own.

My observation is that most of the loudest, are the very folks who can’t qualify for VA benefits, because, after all, we do have a “volunteer” military, and they don’t wish to commit.

As if the buses provided by ACORN were full of people who knew exactly where they were going.

Sargeant really nailed an unfortunate truth here. Sometimes I wish I could talk to these folks one on one and try to understand what their fear is. There’s something strange about those who are the beneficiaries of govt. paid and administered healthcare benefits being so fearful of others having access to a govt. plan option.

BCS: I’d say they probably fear the pie is finite and that their services would suffer if shared amongst more. A little selfishness for self -preservation.

omQ, if that’s their true concern, what a sad commentary on our society.
But I also wonder if they’ve bought if all the lies about doctors being mandated to counsel patients about their wishes on end of life care, the “euthanasia” straw man.
The truth is the proposal (in one of the bills floating out there) is for the benefit of physicians to be reimbursed for providing that old-fashioned family doctor kind of care of talking to patients, the type of care that’s often missing these days.
And it isn’t mandatory, at all, it says the physician can be reimbursed for that type of counseling only once a five years … an attempt to prevent misusing the service. (and we all know there are some physicians that bill for fraudulent services.)
It’s a plus both for the patient and for the caregiver, but those opposed to reform have latched onto it, trying to make it mean something to be feared.

the pie is finite yo. The gov-ment gets it’s money from us chumps – my pie is finite too, and getting smaller all the time since the anointed seem to be taking larger chunks of it all the time. I’m an American but living abroad in a country with socialized medicine. I pay more here (sometimes nearly double) than I pay back in the states, and the really catastrophic stuff isn’t even covered and the quality is mediocre at best. It’s not a right – that’s a cruel joke. You want something – earn it and pay for it, or checkout. Only the feeble and incompetent think socialism is a ‘deal’. You can get a $2 breakfast that the government provides, but it’s going to cost you $10 to get it. The problem is some of you ain’t even earned the $2 and want me to treat you to the meal – go hungry – you’re too fat (collectively) anyway.

I do agree with “bcs” and “omQ” in their take on this subject. Additionally, the Parties who seem so bent on opposing all things Democrat, I do believe, actually devour all the frenzy whipped up material designed expressly to feed their feeding frenzy. I have found them to be less than analytical, oblivious to the idea of fact-checking, incapable of hearing another side, and totally devoid of reasoning for themselves. They just sit and wait for more spoonfed fodder that stokes their hatemongering. Oh… and they THRIVE on attack.. It’s their mantra….. How very unfortunate that although Man is deemed to be the smartest, most capable creature on earth, that we are so incapable of exchanging successful dialogue and debate geared toward implementing results that benefit humanity, not ME.

5 facts about the anti-reform mobs
These disruptions are being funded and organized by out-of-district special-interest groups and insurance companies who fear that health insurance reform could help Americans, but hurt their bottom line. A group run by the same folks who made the “Swiftboat” ads against John Kerry is compiling a list of congressional events in August to disrupt. An insurance company coalition has stationed employees in 30 states to track where local lawmakers hold town-hall meetings.
People are scared because they are being fed frightening lies. These crowds are being riled up by anti-reform lies being spread by industry front groups that invent smears to tarnish the President’s plan and scare voters. But as the President has repeatedly said, health insurance reform will create more health care choices for the American people, not reduce them. If you like your insurance or your doctor, you can keep them, and there is no “government takeover” in any part of any plan supported by the President or Congress.
Their actions are getting more extreme. Texas protesters brought signs displaying a tombstone for Rep. Lloyd Doggett and using the “SS” symbol to compare President Obama’s policies to Nazism. Maryland Rep. Frank Kratovil was hanged in effigy outside his district office. Rep. Tim Bishop of New York had to be escorted to his car by police after an angry few disrupted his town hall meeting – and more examples like this come in every day. And they have gone beyond just trying to derail the President’s health insurance reform plans, they are trying to “break” the President himself and ruin his Presidency.
Their goal is to disrupt and shut down legitimate conversation. Protesters have routinely shouted down representatives trying to engage in constructive dialogue with voters, and done everything they can to intimidate and silence regular people who just want more information. One attack group has even published a manual instructing protesters to “stand up and shout” and try to “rattle” lawmakers to prevent them from talking peacefully with their constituents.
Republican leadership is irresponsibly cheering on the thuggish crowds. Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner issued a statement applauding and promoting a video of the disruptions and looking forward to “a long, hot August for Democrats in Congress.”

and I heard that the lefties will mandate only two kids out of a family can get healthcare and parents have to choose if they have more than two kids.
and I heard that Obama said white people have to pay twice as much for healthcare because they’re privileged
and I heard that the government will mandate that you can’t get a hip replacement if you’re over 45 years of age
and I heard that you have to agree to die at age 65 when healthcare gets nationalized

As long as we have the right of free speech and the right to congregate in America, we can oppose any and all mandates by the government. anthony 2816, I live in San Angelo Texas, where we had a “Tea Party” and the people there were just ordinary hard working old cowboys and cowgirls and their grandparents. Not Mobs! I beg your pardon! Don’t make up a lot of silly stuff.! We can’t afford all this nonsense, and neither can you. Mark my words, we’ll all end in the poor house. Some of us are half way there already.

lightfarts, there is no “mandates by the government.” The whole idea of reform is to give people more choices than they now have, which you and others apparently fear.

senorbullwinkle, I gave up on the Republicans years ago when I realized that they only theoretically wanted less of my money than the Democrats. They are all idiots: idiots to the left of me, and idiots to the right (actually they are all to the left of me fiscally!). The biggest problem is that people are deluded into thinking that the government will somehow solve their problems. Take charge of your life and quit depending on these dimwits to bail your sorry derriere out. B. H. Obama is not the Messiah (and thus the drop in his poll numbers).
No one owns me –not the Republicans, but especially not the Democrats.

BCS: Yes, I will agree with you, it is more likely that their fears are probably due to blatant misinformation such as the euthanasia lie. That’s something that can be corrected with the truth and more information. Selfishness is a bit more difficult. :p

You sound like Thirstin Howl lll, superfluous !
