As long as kids don’t come to my door, begging… everything’s going to be fine.

We live at the end of a long country lane. We’ve had five trick or treaters in the 40 years we’ve lived here. Apparently, you have to be desperate for a free candy bar to come down here after dark.

As I see it, I have no obligation to provide other people’s brats with confection……The concept of Hallowe’en (although well known in Scotland) is rarely “celebrated” in England. It’s the over saturation in US kids’ TV shows that has brought it to people’s minds.
This isn’t a criticism of Americam people, but a criticism of TV companies….I’ve known many US citizens and found them just as ordinary as us.

I like to humor the neighbor kids who normally come over to play here (and pick my oranges) and back when Cuddles was with me we say outside the whole evening (because it made her happy).

Now that she’s gone, and I’ll not get another bird, I only give to whoever rings and once I shut the lights, I won’t be bothered (all the costumes are either junk from store or the “no bother” hobo or such. Good costumes were fun.

Only about 10% of people in my neighborhood participate in Halloween anymore. It used to be a lot more, like about 80% years ago.
