Only been married once. We celebrate our 37th anniversary later this year. I guess she’s right. prior experience isn’t necessary to do a job right the first time, even if the odds are against it.

Having been married late in life and widowed, I have had experiences change me. By the time I had met my second wife, I had the advantage of being half-housebroken as a husband. I was prepared to be a better husband, but I was not ready for the responsibility of being a father. That only happened after the birth of my daughter.
We constantly encounter things in life that we do not have the experience to handle. But we learn and, by the grace of God, mature through these events.

Marriage isn’t compulsory….as long as you’ve not missed out in other ways.

How will the second wife feel about that, is polygamy allowed up there?

Book publishing and marriage are not that good of a comparison.
