    One example that comes to mind is Tom Clancy’s “The Hunt For Red October”. None of the conventional publishers would touch the book until it was accepted by the U.S. Naval Institute Press. After that, his career became publishing history.

    I’m just now reading Stephen King’s memoir and how he had so many rejections and he was at the end of his rope drinking and despondent until a publisher accepted “Carrie.”
