We had tons of squirrels in the old neighborhood. We moved about 7 months ago (only 4 miles) but there aren’t as many squirrels over here. Lots of other wildlife, but they don’t and can’t get to the bird food. Plus squirrel proof feeders work great for the few squirrels we do have. ;)

If it comes to a choice between squirrels or neighbours cats; give me the squirrels, any time.

We love squirrels – better than the pesky black birds that swoop down and empty the feeder in fivce minutes flat. We put out peanuts, and place most of them in a tunnel the blue jays won’t/can’t enter. This morning a squirrel had a peanut in his mouth and a Blue Jay flew down and took it out of the squirrel’s mouth. Talk about one irrate animal! He stood on his back legs, yelling curses and running in circles, then went back and got another peanut. Never a camera when you need it.

I like squirrels, one of the most successful of rodents.
