I don’t think I have ever read any novel more than once. Except for Alas, Babylon. Four times so far, over the years.

Thank goodness for Gutenberg books ( the originator and home to most of the free classics). Some Philip K. Dick titles are even available for free.

Gutenberg is a good site. Amazon has some free e-books in MOBI format for the Kindle.

I have read War and Peace. I really have! I have also read La Nouvelle Heloise six times, in French! (It was for a college class.) 50 pages a day! Maybe I’ll try that on Moby Dick. . .

Moby Dick is brutal. You’ll know all you ever wanted to know about 19th century whaling. I honestly don’t know how that book qualifies as a “classic”.

Speaking of… who has read Anna Karenina? It was on my book club’s list, but I had no time for it so I skipped it. Is it another truly amazing classic, or should I continue to skip it?

Bleak House, yes, I could read that over. The others, probably not.

Relate it to petroleum. They had an oil crisis too.

Love it, especially “20,000 leagues Under the Seas.”

I’ve read Anna Karenina, twice. War & Peace 3 times, and I’d like to read the new translation. Most of Dickens at least 4 times, though not Bleak House. Nor could I make it through Moby Dick. Tried 3 times, struck out 3 times. In college my French was good enough to real Balzac without a dictionary, though those days are looong past.

Impressive! You are quite a reader. I will try to tackle it one day when I have more spare time.

I read mostly non-fiction and write more fiction than I read.
