    What? With a name like Dead Line did you think he’d be a nice guy?

    At school, the gym teacher always got the same response from me….. the 60s equivalent of “whatever”.

    This reminds me of that Richard Gere and Debra Winger movie, “An Officer and a Gentleman.” Richard Gere and the drill sergeant had to fight it out in the end.

    @pcolli

    Our gym teachers were relaxed older football coaches put out to pasture. It was the sports coaches that were extremely intense in our school. But some of them were kind of brain dead on account of their mothers hating them. So their brains withered from psychological torment. Since they were essentially brain dead they were under the illusion that they didn’t have to identify and court the good natural athletes. So, in that garbage hole of a school we had massive dudes with perfect eyesight slouching under dress shirts and slacks, with hard muscles bulging through the clothes. During the gym activities they put a lid on their talents and slouched more than a WWI era spy so as not to arouse interest. But sometimes they would let their guard down in front of me and you could see the huge abilities these guys had. It’s appalling how dumb some of those coaches were, and I’m certainly no genius. They really were at a shamefully juvenile level.
