This has happened to me running up a long flight of stairs. Some man-hating girl with something to prove ran by me laughing loudly and taunting me. My knees have improved since then though.

Hit it every day, don’t worry about speed or distance, go just until you get tired. Some days you will be able to go 20 minutes others only 5. But if you do it every day to the limit you can each day, in a bit over a year you can run a marathon. Note I didn’t say win.
