It is said that the Cartoonist as a species can not truly be domesticated, even the successful ones have been known to go feral

Welcome to the Dark Side, Dan. You’re not in Sherpa anymore.

Plods with Beer: thanks for the warning, I do love seeing the comments section fill up, even if it’s not always gushing compliments. At least people are reading, right?
Also, I wanted to inform all of you that I am working very hard on updating the archives, so that you can go back and see the whole story. Beardo is the kind of strip that is self-contained but also has an overarching story. And of course, I want you to experience as much of that as you can handle, so keep a lookout in the coming days for the filling of archives.
And, as always, thanks for reading.

Dan, I’m new to the strip since it joined Gocomics, but it looks great so far. Are these new strips or are you replaying the strips from Sherpa? I’m just curious because today’s strip is very timely.
Dan Dougherty said, 9 months ago
Most of the strips I’m showing now haven’t been shown on Sherpa, or – if they have – have only been shown recently. You’ll be seeing a lot of new content here.

That’s part of the beauty of being on Gocomics instead of Sherpa. The environment on Sherpa is more about encouraging whereas Gocomics you’re more free game for any type of comment. Which really is great because like Dan said, it means they’re reading!

dave hussell, the program that I am just starting to familiarize myself with (LOTS of nuances) is Manga Studio Debut 4. They have a more expensive (with conversely more features) version (Manga Studio EX) but I think the cheaper version has lots of cool stuff (like complete control over word balloons and a large variety of printable tones that can be easily applied to your characters’ ).
‘Comic Life’ is a fairly good program for putting finishing touches on comics (such as creating any size panels and word balloons ) but you have to load in your finished artwork from another program, like Corel Painter, which is a pretty cool program too, in conjunction with your wacom.

@nighthawks
Thanks, Nighthawk. Still wanting to see your work. My comic Oat is about ready to start sending to the syndicates and if rejected will debut soon here on Sherpa
And because I also left a personal note, I will end by keeping it with the forum for the comic:
Though I take it Beardo has been around a while, I am a newbie, or rather it is new to me.
So far I am on my second day of exposure to it. Too soon to make a true evaluation, however, from what I have seen, i like it. I relate to the character, which I am sure any cartoonist, freelance artist, art student, or anyone who has dabble in illustrating will relate. And that probably makes up for 80-90% of the readers on this site.
I guess I am in good company.
