    as kids we would call the street cleaners “street dirtiers” because they would go for many miles without emptying their tanks. All they accomplished was to put dirt in the air, most of which ended back up in the street.

    I have seen our governmental street workers laying and tamping down tons of asphalt paving to keep our streets in at least reasonable repaired condition (especially the way the idiot street racing types race up and down) on days with over 100 degree temperatures. I am sure they appreciate all of the “lazy” comments here. I know I would!!

    There are many hard-working government workers all over this planet. You just happen to have them both in your area.

    @Robert Landers

    It’s heavy vehicles that do the most damage to streets. Bending is proportional to weight per tire, and cracks are caused by repeated large bends. The edges of cracks erode; potholes form.
