From both physical and mental standpoints, marijuana is far more injurious than heroin or cocaine. From damaging your DNA, to harming your lungs more than a tobacco cigarette, to causing the person to be irresponsible and eventually taking their mental abilities away. The fundamental you changes. I’ve seen it often, because it was legal here from 1973-199. There are a host of other pharmacological effects..It was almost unheard of when I was in high school to hurt themselves or to die from alcohol poisoning, but when people started mixing alcohol and marijuana, it became commonplace. It’s normally just reported as alcohol, not the two drugs together. What happens is no only is the judgement messed up by both, but the nausea reflex is suppressed (the one FDA use for mj is for nausea). And so a person can keep drinking long after a person only on alcohol would have had to stop from the heaves..I’ve never seen a person become an idiot over time from cocaine or opiates, but many of those I went to school with have only a fraction of the brains they started with..The strangest effect was that users who started in their teens never grew up mentally. They still thought like a 13 or 14 year old despite being 20, 30, 40, 50, etc. That is extremely common among Boomers and GenX in the Pacific Northwest. The worst effect, bar none, was what it did to children when their mothers were pregnant. Small craniums, seizures. all sorts of neurological problems. Everyone seems to fixate on fetal alcohol syndrome, but that requires large dosages and is still uncommon, while most kids whose moms who smoked marijuana when pregnant had some kind of physical or mental problem and usually more than one. It’s scary stuff..Opiates, unless they kill you, oddly enough are the least damaging of the group. Cocaine if used long enough can cause congestive heart failure and destruction of the septum.
