    Have I witnessed any evidence of global climate change? Yep, sure have. In Oz we call it Julia’s lie or the carbon tax.

    I wish the comics would refrain from politics. I come to comics to escape.

    That’s right. 280 ppm CO2 in the atmosphere before the industrial revolution; 400 ppm now. Definitely not anthropogenic—it must have been magic invisible space unicorns. Analogously, no one disputes that the passenger pigeon went extinct, but it would be silly to pretend that humans had anything to do with it.
    Suggested reading: “Storms of My Grandchildren” by James Hansen, and “Hell and High Water” by Joseph Romm. The only lie people are falling for is the one spread by the denialist industry, and their chief whore, James Inhofe.

    @ron:
    Truth: global warming / climate change is real. Following causes may be:

    1. Man made, so changeable abeit inconvient and possibly expensive.

    2. Natural, probably via astronomical reasons, so not changeable.

    If it is #2, then expect the “unpleasant” events including droughts, floods, frost killed crops on a massive scale, etc. and not be able to do a darn thing about it. You see the warming poles make the jet streams more extreme and erratic, which in turn affect weather. Humans might change it within a century. Astronomical events may take thousands of years. Call me an opptimist, but I am cheering for #1.

    P.S. we just had a near frost event a half month after warm weather crops were planted. That’s most of what people eat bud.

    @pda726

    Clearly, you have no idea of what science is. If you don’t like the word “consensus,” pick a better one. I didn’t mean to imply that scientists sat around one day and discussed matters and decided on a unified position. I meant that the vast majority of peer-reviewed papers in the relevant journals indicate that anthropogenic climate change is a fact.
