Better find a radiation suit before you get too close.

Actually, the chemical plant is far more likely to be the source.

Yep. There are some really weird things that can happen.
From personal experience ionizing radiation from radioisotopes is more likely to cause thyroid and immune system damage. (Thanks, Hanford…)

If they were near the water, they could tell by the three-eyed fish. (Simpsons reference)

It’s easy to find the coal-fired plant too. Just look for the dead, black animals. It’s also easy to find the wind farms. Just look for the shredded birds. You can find the hydropower plants by following the anadromous fish until you find them beating their heads against the dam, and you can find the solar power facilities by tracking the shipments from the mines where the rare elements come from along with the mine detritus that gets dumped in the rivers. I’m not sure what the bad effects of geothermal are, but I’m sure they’re there. With nine billion giant two-legged hairless cockroaches on the planet, it’s a problem every way you look at it.

There have been a number of reported incidences of ground subsidence in both California and Iceland from areas utilizing geothermal. Your comment’s a little flippant. But you’re right in that nothing comes free.

Actually there have been NO deaths in the US from nuclear power generation, and that can’t be said about coal or oil.

How about in other countries? Russia, Japan, for example.

You could reduce the population by 1. If everyone that thinks like you did that the world would be better off.

    You are right.

And, for scrabblefiend, the deaths in other countries was caused by not following the rules. Chernobyl was a disaster waiting to happen because they didn’t follow the rules.

There are over 100 nuclear powered ships in the US navy right now. Not one death or sickness from ANY nuclear accident on these ships.

But Chicken Little refuses to listen to facts.

People are afraid of what they do not understand. Unfortunately the potential for large damage is there. Coal, Gas, Biomass power plant kill very slowly large numbers of people, but they do it quietly and in ways the public can’t see. With Nuclear if you have a problem it’s right in you face. I say we should ask people what source they want their power to be provided from and then bill them for the TRUE cost of the electricity, NOT the subsidized price. I think some of the more unpopular sources would be chosen after a month of billing.
