Who came up with the trust fall, anyway? Some of these couples are reaaaly trusting when they expect a 100lb spouse to catch a 300lb spouse.

The “trust fall” is one of the stupidest ideas someone ever came up with. It demonstrates nothing and “proves” nothing.
(If it’s anything, it borders on a brainwashing technique.)

This could turn out to be better than Lucy with the football routine.

The Simpsons had one of the better riffs on the trust fall. One-time character and temporary Homer supervisor Hank Scorpio was in the midst of this exercise with Homer, having already counted down, “three, two…” when the phone rang. He went to answer it, alerting Homer to the distraction by saying, “one second” and giving Homer a hand signal that he could not see. Homer passed the trust exercise, while Hank failed.

In class the phrase is OK. Hit me. Trusting our classmate to not actually do us harm. There is the rare error, but it only pushes you back an inch or so. but….
