Santa and the elves will end up on food stamps. Rudolph will end up in a venison stew.

Career redirection, that’s the ticket. Sewing little hearts, sewing little shamrocks, sewing little bunnies, sewing little flags, mail delivery. You’ve all got talents you’ve never even dreamed of. My consulting bill is in the mail. You can hold off payment until next Christmas.

A seasonal employe? Isn’t that the guy that goes around the restaurant with the pepper grinder?

Just make sure you’re eligible. In a perverted twist, substitute teachers in my state, whose jobs are by nature not only seasonal but also on call, are ineligible by law to receive unemployment when there’s no work. Only thing is, with my state spending at a rate rivaling the federal government (and, being Democrat controlled like the Senate and the WH, stuck in the mindset that the only thing that will solve out-of-control spending is higher taxes), my elected representatives tell me there’s little enthusiasm in the legislature for correcting this fundamental inequity.

And yet these guys go back to the same job year in and year out. Sounds to me like they are bilking the system. AND, make sure they pass a drug test before they get a penny of government money.

No problem. Thanks to the Great Society – that is now what unemployment insurance is for. Absolutely! Check it out with any union; when there are fewer jobs than members – they rotate them on/off the jobs after they get enough weeks to qualify for unemployment. It is a way of life for a large segment of the 53% who don’t live on hand-outs.
