    It’s a generic thing.

What’s scary is that a lot of “resistance” is the result of bio warfare, that is to say, deliberately tweaking existing disease germs, rather than the “natural selection” action of antibiotic use or improper use. We’re seeing stuff that doesn’t appear to have existed before.

Here we go with the conspiracy theories. Sheesh!

Massive use of antibiotics in cattle and poultry has nothing to do with it. Right!

You’re forgetting that germs have very short life spans normally, and we’ve been doing it for ages. Considering that you can see results in birds in a relatively short period, natural selection of germs for antibiotic resistance is more likely than bioengineering.
Lots of the nastiest live in hospitals. The military is nasty and evil, but I’m not convinced that even they’d go to the extreme of trying new bugs on civilians.

Considering that “full price” for medications these days can be well over $100,000 a year, I can certainly understand this form of “resistance.” I think full-scale rebellion is in order. Novartis, for example, bleats and bellows about the cost of drug development while making billions – yes, that’s with a B – in profits and spending more on PR than they do on research. You don’t believe me? Go look it up. The numbers are right there in their annual report. That’s how brazen these profiteers are.

I bought shares of Pfizer just so I could collect enough in dividends to help pay for their patented drugs. You’d think shareholders would get a discount.

Since we’re talking about, I get a med through the mail, that if I got it at the pharmacy would be FIVE times more expensive. Same exact thing – no generic – no ‘online pharmacy’ thing –
$30 a month versus $150 a month. Go figure. At least I have the mail option.

I think we’ve beat that dead horse more times than I can count… please try to keep up.
B.C. is full of anachronisms, but along with comic physics, there’s no point in trying to analyze and correct every single thing that is inconsistent. It is supposed to be amusing or thought-provoking, and if you’re only here to correct, it will no longer be amusing, only a source of “what can I pick on today?” Sigh…
