Read “State of Fear” by Michael Crighton for a real eye opener about global warming and the entire environmental movement. I’ve never read a novel with so many footnotes. I’ve never questioned any of this before, and I’m still a big supporter of environmental issues, but let’s just say I don’t believe every environmental cause knows what they are talking about anymore.

Yeah, I agree, but you can’t sell the public on a cause unless you sound absolutely certain about everything you say. The voting public, for the most part, doesn’t understand things like statistical probabilities or logical nuance.

If you can’t claim 100% certainty for your hypothesis (yes, I recognize the discrepancy here), the opposition will claim, with a 100% certainty, that your hypothesis is impossible.
