She’s so well-educated and cultured she should have a better job than secretary.

    “Do you come here often?”
    .
“Why, yes. I wait for my Police Officer husband after his shift is over.”

You don’t understand the economy. Being well versed in Greek and History are considered useless in our society.

Diogenes’ remark is even more impressive if you know he was talking to Alexander the Great.

(Alexander, at least, was impressed; his attitude thereafter was “If I could not be Alexander, I would wish to be Diogenes.” The whole story may be apocryphal, of course.)

“He decided she was a kynikos.”

    Well played, sir.
I wonder whether the writers were aware of the pun.

I wish I knew someone like Foxx. But then she would be way out of my league. But it could make for an interesting friendship.

You probably do. You just don’t know it yet. Ask some questions of your casual acquaintances and you may find a Foxx. Talk “with” them, and really listen to their answers. (Thar’s GOLD in them thar cashiers!)
