Barney -- J. Barnard Pillsbury -- is the billionaire founder and CEO of Pillsbury Pharmaceuticals. Barney thinks he has it all: power, wealth, a pampered existence with a statuesque trophy wife – until he meets Clyde Finster, an intelligent, entertaining (and possibly crazy) street person. Clyde's satisfaction with his circumstance surprises and confounds Barney, whose success in life has been hard-fought and won. For Clyde, Barney's acceptance is validation of a life lived without compromise.

Detective: “We know he was murdered, we have dozens of possible suspects, but we just can’t be sure.”
D.A. Berger: “Did any of them know Perry Mason?”
Detective: (Sorts papers) “Yes, John Blake is Mason’s plumber.”
Berger: “Good. Arrest Blake, Mason can solve the case, I’m going home.”

I still say the teacher, along with other people as well as objects in this strip, is drawn in Art-Deco style.

Perry Mason only lost one case. Not like today when on Law and Order you don’t know what the verdict will be every time which is thrilling.
