Private schools do better because they can kick out the bad kids. Bad not as in dumb, but as in troublemakers.

Wait, I thought they DID go to a private school. What about uniforms?

All our high schools here in my neck of PA require the kids to wear uniforms. Tan slacks, blue shirts, etc.

Some public schools have uniforms. Part of the problem, besides the money and resources going only to the rich schools in rich districts, and the poor one remain poor. We need to unify it nationally and have it the same in every state and district.

I think the usual rationale for rich parents picking public schools is that their kids will see the futureless students and think, “I need to work hard if I want to get anywhere!” The jury’s still out on whether that works often enough.

I think a lot of times when the parent picks public schools it is because the child wants to go to public schools.
