The thought of Bubby’s pie drives him thoughtless.

Barkeater has multiple runways? I guess if you’re a “big enough” small town you might have one. But most of the small towns I’ve lived in were fly-over territory.

@rshive
Every runway has two ends and unless it has some geographical feature that forces you to only land or take off in one direction each end is designated a seperate runway. The runway designation is it’s magnetic compass direction ( to the nearest 10 degrees) so runway 26 is lined up with 260 degress magnetic. The other end is runway 08 and is lined up on 080 degrees magnetic. So yes they may have only one runway but it can be referenced in two ways. And you pick which end to approach based on the wind direction, land and take off into the wind. :-)

Thanks for the knowledge. There, I learned something new and interesting today. Can I go back to bed now?

And I’m betting the difference between the two will always equal 180? For some odd reason….

@annamargaret1866
Yea, not to many curved runways out there.

Be my guest. Sleep well.

@Quiet One
So what are you doing reading comics when you should be sleeping? (I ask myself that a lot). ;-)

Thanks for the lucid explanation. One learns something new every day — or should.
Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if Banks designed the whole airport.

Very interesting. Soooo….what happens at a large airport with parallel runways?

IIRC, you get constructs such as 26L and 26R (26 left and 26 right, of course). Of course, I guess it would be a little difficult to go back into the artwork and correct the spelling of Cessna.
