Barkeater Lake is the fake story of the real Delores Tanzini's move from the Metropolitan NY area to the rural tree infested town of Barkeater Lake, located in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State. Looking for peace and quiet from the loud and war-torn city, she finds herself smack in the middle of completely different brand of crazy.

I think Corey’s retrospective commentary is cool.
That certainly is some pilot, and one wonders if there hasn’t been a lot of stuff around Delores over the years that might possibly be a projection of her subconscious fantasies …
The lettering in the old BL strips sure was painstaking. I’m nostalgic about the crossed Zs, since that’s what I do myself, but other than that, this bit of technological progress has served the strip well.

I remember thinking when I read these early strips, that I wouldn’t have minded getting some physical education from someone like Delores when I was in high school.
