Some grandnephew of Carmen he is. (If it was lengua soup, would we call it a good thing the soup boiled over because some of Baldo’s family doesn’t like lengua?)

Well, she told him to tell her when it boiled over.

This is typical for a boy, you have to give them exact instructions. For example: ‘Baldo, please watch this pot, from inside the kitchen, and if it starts to boil over, please turn down the heat to number 3 and then come get me immediately’. After I had done this type of thing with my son, he had gotten very mad and told me that I don’t have to do that that he understood what I meant. I asked him if he understood the first time why didn’t he do it. " I don’t know".

So true, newworldmozart! I’ve had similar situations with my otherwise smart and helpful teenage son.

Good one, newworld! One of my daughter’s email friends told her husband (who’s an engineer), “Please pick up a carton of milk; if there are eggs, get six.” So . . . maybe you guessed it: He got six cartons of milk, no eggs. My husband has done things almost like this. With engineers, you have to be precise!

I want to know BEFORE it boiled over, not after.

I THINK maybe the point is he probably TEXTED her that the pot was boiling over. That’s why he’s checking his phone to see when he sent the text. This young generation doesn’t practice verbal communication; everything is done electronically. It’s a shame!

Now she got a lot of clean up from this. Sometimes things have to be explained more.
