I’m surprised Gracie didn’t take summer school just for the fun of it.

Ben meant well, but actually, he that can have patience can have what destiny and fate will.

And then there is J.D. Robb’s character, Roarke: “I believe in fate and in destiny, and I believe in giving fate a good twist of the arm if it’s not going my way.”

So, why was she taking a summer college class? In my experience it is to repeat a class.

College used to work under the Quarter system, rather than the Semester system of today.
Today there are two semesters per year, formerly there were four quarters per year.
Most students attended school three quarters and took summer off.
Some of us went year round in order to graduate sooner.
The universities no longer encourage that, since the longer you attend, the more money they can charge.
I completed my first degree (engineering) in three years.
