Baldo is our first comic strip that features Latino characters and themes. Baldo lives with his parents and works at Auto Y Rod, Inc., selling car parts. Through his daily exploits in the world of girls, cars, and little sisters, readers will learn just how well they can identify with this teen. Writer Hector Cantú and artist Carlos Castellanos have given us a comic strip whose warmth and gentle humor will appeal to all.

Get the car first, you’re gonna need it in college for the multiple jobs & volunteer work you’re gonna have to go through.

Not necessarily. The 1st time I went to college I took the bus and only had 1 part-time job. Grants took care of everything except my books.

Plus, they generally don’t allow Freshmen to have cars.

Most places, a bicycle will do just as well and leaves more money for next semester.

True at most major urban campuses. and even in the 70’s at small colleges you were discourged from having a car because parking was at a premium. Who ever was parked furthers from the dorm drove on bar night.

No, no, that’s a good point! Let’s go back to what the dad said.

Let me tell you, colleges are flooded with Estella’s. Even though they are ambitious and attractive they are available because they are snarky, standoffish and are always looking.

I was able to pay it all on my own in the 60’s- my summer job and OSAP.
