Baldo is our first comic strip that features Latino characters and themes. Baldo lives with his parents and works at Auto Y Rod, Inc., selling car parts. Through his daily exploits in the world of girls, cars, and little sisters, readers will learn just how well they can identify with this teen. Writer Hector Cantú and artist Carlos Castellanos have given us a comic strip whose warmth and gentle humor will appeal to all.

Classic cars are cool. Modern cars, forget it.

This ain’t going to happen. Make Baldo choose between a car and a girl? Adios, chica. At least Beatriz understands cars.

Yep, a girlfriend should appreciate your hobbies and likes, just the same as she expects you to be supportive of hers. Otherwise — next…

I’m torn on that. Love my 1978 Mk V Continental but I tell you what — my SL63 really makes me think twice about which keys to grab

19th century? Cars were in their infancy then. Daimler-Benz (the oldest car company on the planet, best known for making the Mercedes) started in 1886.
Ransom Olds started building cars in 1897. Henry Ford didn’t start until the 20th century, in 1903.

What’s she into? Jetpacks? Hoverboards?

Take her to a car dealer and you both sit in a ’Vette. She will change her mind on the spot and bug you to get a hot car!

Typical girl! I’ll bet she watches only chick flicks!

I was thinking the same thing. I think it’s because Hector and Carlos don’t know how to tell centuries. They probably think we are currently in the 20th century since the year is *20*13.

Changing for a girl that could barely give him the time of day. How sad… but I have a hard time not thinking I’d do the same thing. :-s

Strange she says “soooo 19th century” since the first operant cars were steam powered and appeared 200 years before.
