Baldo is our first comic strip that features Latino characters and themes. Baldo lives with his parents and works at Auto Y Rod, Inc., selling car parts. Through his daily exploits in the world of girls, cars, and little sisters, readers will learn just how well they can identify with this teen. Writer Hector Cantú and artist Carlos Castellanos have given us a comic strip whose warmth and gentle humor will appeal to all.

I’ve never heard of the last two. How about Enrique Iglesias, Gloria Estefan, George Lopez and Cheech Marin?

I’m surprised you’ve never heard of Joan Baez – really famous folk singer of Santana’s era. There’s also director Robert Rodríguez, and actor Antonio Banderas. And did anybody mention Cheech Marin?

Flaco Jimenez. Jerry Garcia, not being alive, isn’t eligible.

What none of you seem to realize, the Kennedy Center Honors are like the Grammies, and the Oscars, and other awards programs, you get the honors or awards by PAYING THEM TO GIVE IT TO YOU.

Trying not to duplicate: José Feliciano, Rita Moreno, Astrud and João Gilberto, Trini Lopez, Julio Iglesias, the Ramero family, and while he is probably too young even though conductor of a major US symphony, Gustavo Dudamel (being the product of Sistema Bolivár probably disqualifies him anyway).

What is really sad is that the United States is made up of people from all different ethnic backgrounds and cultures. Yet we never see nor hear of them being recognized in the development of our nation, our music, food, culture or inventions that have benefited the world. Instead of uniting as a nation our politicians are
attempting to divide us into
various groups and keep us
arguing with one another.
