    @TEMPLO S.U.D.

    Guess you never read Mad magazine. Jaffee had a series called “Snappy Answers To Stupid Questions”. Also check out Jaffee’s autobiography.

    Al Jaffee had the best visual sound-effects for his cartoons: “SPLORTCH!” when someone stepped in something. Ah, classic MAD magazine: Dave Berg and Mort Drucker were great, but I always like the marginal comics by Sergio Arrones (sp?). I would flip through the magazine looking for those first before finally settling down to read the rest of the writings by “The Usual Gang of Idiots”. Carefree childhood. I miss it.

    I had a sociology professor who had a complete collection of Mad; claimed it was essential to his work.

    @emjaycee

    Sergio Aragones. You may be thinking of “Mad’s Maddest Artist” Don Martin withthe sound effects. “The New Adventures of Queen Victoria” homaged him a couple weeks ago.
