Baldo is our first comic strip that features Latino characters and themes. Baldo lives with his parents and works at Auto Y Rod, Inc., selling car parts. Through his daily exploits in the world of girls, cars, and little sisters, readers will learn just how well they can identify with this teen. Writer Hector Cantú and artist Carlos Castellanos have given us a comic strip whose warmth and gentle humor will appeal to all.

Yard work requires the proper motivation.
I started doing all of it for my lady friend over the summer.
Who needs a hammock?

Why does the guy in Dilbert today seem so familiar?
Joe Allen Doty said, 12 days ago
You can tell they are in the Southern California in the Greater Los Angeles area since everything is still green.
Baldo only did enough work between the 2 trees so that he could hang the hammock to them and it wouldn’t touch the bushes.
It’s Sunday and that’s supposed to be a day of rest anyway.
There are some Christians who don’t approve of working on Sundays; but, they have a busy day anyway. Some of them even go to dinner at a restaurant after the morning worship service and/or for supper after the evening evangelistic meeting where people will have to work for them.

Joe I know your trying to insult them as hypocrites(bad spelling) But maybe they just know they can’t tell others how to live there lives. Better this than in Oakland Ca. where moslims are going to stores owned by moslims and beating up the owner and trashing the store if they sell beer and stay open during prayer times. I am not a Christan but I don’t understand the need to insult them all the time. Who did these people hurt by going to a resturant on Sunday.

Gee! I’ve always assumed Baldo lived somewhere near the Gulf coast. I guess it’s really cold there in the fall.

Well, those who are the most religiously dogmatic whom I have known belonged to local non-Trinitarian doctrine Pentecostal churches.
And, if they left something on the table before the got up from it, it was usually a “Gospel” tact. Some of them had the headline on front page “Here’s a tip for you.”
But, they never left any money with that particular tract. They paid cash for the bill before they got up, too.
During Bible times in Israel, the early church members didn’t work on the 7th day of the week since it was the law. But, they got together for worship in the evening of the 1st day of the week. They worked during the day to prove they weren’t lazy.
In the Roman Empire, outside of the nations of Israel, Judea and Samaria, if the locals worked 7 days a week, the men of the church worked every day, too.

I lived almost 8 years in the North Hollywood community in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. That’s why I made the 1st comment.
I am a believer in Jesus and I have worked on Sundays, too. I never asked to have Sundays off either.
The Apostle Paul wrote that one should not judge another Believer whether he took off one day a week to rest or worked every day of the week. If the Believer lived like he should, he worshipped the Lord every day anyway.

People cling to doctrine and dogma in an attempt to know about God.
It is better to know God.

What would’ve Baldo done with that rope being tied around the tree in the fith and sixth panels if it wasn’t for a hammock?
