Baldo is our first comic strip that features Latino characters and themes. Baldo lives with his parents and works at Auto Y Rod, Inc., selling car parts. Through his daily exploits in the world of girls, cars, and little sisters, readers will learn just how well they can identify with this teen. Writer Hector Cantú and artist Carlos Castellanos have given us a comic strip whose warmth and gentle humor will appeal to all.

LMBO!! Papi may look a bit deranged, but I agree with Morgue, he’s not a goat sucker.

Wow… Zacha… (Yenny’s pet iguana for all of you who are unfamiliar with the Yenny comics)… looks like a rooster!
That pretty harsh! Does Sergio actually look THAT unappealing?

I don’t get it.

Hey Hector and Carlos, I’m ready to get back to the old Baldo, Gracie and Tia Carmen ‘toons. And artwork. What’s with this goofy internet stuff (you’re drawing now) anyhow?

It looks like Papi is better with girls than Baldo.

Oh, so that’s an iguana? If you see this strip in B&W, and you’re unfamiliar with how the Yenny strip is drawn, it’s hard to even see Zacha. And I’ve never been able to tell what he’s supposed to be.

Has Sergio seen Yenny’s super-sized feet?
Here in Oklahoma this year, a woman in the foothills of the Ozarks claimed to have found a chupacabra. (“Chupa” is 1st person singular in the present tense for “(he, she, it) sucks.” A sucker is a chupador in literal Spanish.
It looked more like a Mexican hairless dog.
According to the official Yenny Lopez profile on MySpace, she is 25 years old.
Maybe Zacha means Sergio is an ol’ goat who is a sucker for younger women.
Why does that iquana have a blue nose in this strip? He doesn’t have one in today’s “Yenny” strip nor on the official dot com website which has “Yenny Lopez” in the URL.

Thank you so much Hector, Carlos and Dave.
Anytime you guys want to do this again, you have my vote.

Hey guys,
This strip concludes our crossover week with David.
Thanks for hanging with us these last few weeks and being supportive of our Hispanic Heritage Month guests artist here in Baldo land. It was great fun, and a unique opportunity to try something different and mix things up a bit.
I’d like to express my sincerest appreciation to all of our talented guest artists for their contributions. Particularly, David Alvarez for his contribution on Sunday and daily strips (and for Yenny). As well as all of the loyal Yenny readers that came over and visited us for this entertaining experiment.
Feel free to come back and visit us anytime. Our casa es su casa.

I think a mention should have been be made WITHIN THE BALDO STRIP of the existence of the YENNY strip, her web-site and/or Yenny’s MySpace/Facebook sites…? I am first discovering Yenny’s existence through the DAILY Baldo strip (my local newspaper does NOT carry the Sunday strip). The Baldo strip lead me to discover UClickGoComics. And it is here where I then discovered (based on a readers posted comments earlier this week) that a Yenny toon strip even existed. Please give Yenny a special mention and a ‘plug’ in the Baldo strip.

With baldo being 15 Sergio could be in his mid 30’s to early 40’s. With Yenny being 25 this is more apropiate than chatting with 15 year old Baldo. Joe that is like the 5 time you mentioned Yenny’s big feet. Starting to wonder a bit there.

I’m more worried about that rose in his teeth - mmh.
I read the Spanish Yenny every day, and am always blown away that she has more skin on the soles of her feet than she covers with clothing.

Sergio could be somewhere between 35 and 40 years old; but, he is drawn to look like is is over 40.
Yenny Lopez’ figure is sort of drawn like an exaggerated cartoon version of “Barbie” from the waist up.
Yenny’s wardrobe in the comic strip bearing her name has sometimes wearing almost nothing. She’s drawn like a soft-porn style cartoon character that appears in men’s magazines.
When I taught Spanish, French and Art in a rural high school in Northastern Missouri, I got a list of the classes and the faculty members who would be teaching them in the mail before school started.
When I saw “Yenner Gulmez” as the person who would be teaching only art classes, I thought the surname was Hispanic. But, Yenner was a native of Turkey and had become an American Citizen. He and I got along great with him as the head of the Art Department and I was the only one in the “Foreign Language” Department.

It’s been fun Mr. Castellanos!
Like people didn’t know there was a Yenny strip before the cross over, I had no idea of a Baldo strip! I think I shall be making some more visits to this strip now… It’s very funny!
Oh for more info on Yenny (for those still unfamiliar) even though this is the conclusion…
According to the OFFICIAL strip canon…. Yenny IS 22 but if you consider real life factors, then yes Yenny is technically way older because she was 22, and HAS BEEN 22 since 2003, back in the days when this site was called “Comic Sherpa” then later “Ucomics” until the site changed once again and became titled as what we all know today as “gocomics”
So as far as I’m concerned, until Dave says it himself, Yenny is still 22…
Yes, Zacha is an Iguana and is a female, but it’s hard to tell without looking at her long eyelashes, from which in this strip, they have been colored red to look like a crest of a rooster!
Lastly the large exposure of skin is a funny gag that’s been going on since forever, meant to be more funny than perverted…
But anyway… Me being the huge Yenny fan that I am, I recommend more readers come over and read more Yenny strips! Share in the fun with us and discover the humor and wonderful scenarios that the great Dave Alvarez has given to his fans and newcomers alike!

fmilling18- well said. That was of course our intention to expose Davids wonderful artistry to a new audience.
And of course we’re happy you have found us as well. Bienvenido.
So I encourage all of our readers to continue reading and visiting the vivacious Yenny. She makes me wish I was a cartoon character living in Villa Los Kubos. ; )

OldHipster - Don’t you know?
Every minor detail of a comic must be analyzed until there is absolutely no fun left in it.
Careful what you say, might upset the old folks.

Lol, I really found this crossover funny. ^-^ For some reason though, the newspaper I read printed her hair yellow the entire crossover. o.O

Excellent way to end this fun crossover, with a cameo walk-on by Zacha!
If it were me, rather that Baldo’s dad that Yenny was video-chatting with, I’d have a problem with being called the Chupacabra. Being called the Chupapiesgrandes, not a problem though.
