Baldo is our first comic strip that features Latino characters and themes. Baldo lives with his parents and works at Auto Y Rod, Inc., selling car parts. Through his daily exploits in the world of girls, cars, and little sisters, readers will learn just how well they can identify with this teen. Writer Hector Cantú and artist Carlos Castellanos have given us a comic strip whose warmth and gentle humor will appeal to all.

For Labor day I am laboring.
Worked 8 hours last night and will work another 8 tonight.
My job pays 8 hours for Holiday pay plus time and a half for actually working on the holiday.
That’s essentially double time and a half.
I’ll celebrate Labor day when I get the check for this week.

They gave my hubby Labor Day off this year. But they’re not paying for it. CURSE YOU, TAG!
Oh, well. At least he’s got a job.

I may be wrong, but I think it’s a federal law to be paid for Labor Day if you don’t work it. At least in the U.S. If someone knows for sure, please chime in.

But Tía Carmen labored hard for making Baldo an amazing meal in yesterday’s strip and Baldo enjoyed it.

Having recently gone back to college, I am envious of Gracie, and Baldo too.

Oh my gracious! Tia should rest for labour day. Oh well! Tia went ahead and cooked good supper for family on Labour Day.
I hope I can get double pays because I work on Labor Day during the day. Wait and see till I get the paycheck next week. Enjoy having Labor Day!

This was my Labor Day. Seriously, hubby better not kvetch if I get someone else to do Thanksgiving this year. I’ve come to dread the holidays with all the extra cooking.

Nakhash if you are anything like your Icon, then you should be able to get all sorts of kitchen help.
