Baldo is our first comic strip that features Latino characters and themes. Baldo lives with his parents and works at Auto Y Rod, Inc., selling car parts. Through his daily exploits in the world of girls, cars, and little sisters, readers will learn just how well they can identify with this teen. Writer Hector Cantú and artist Carlos Castellanos have given us a comic strip whose warmth and gentle humor will appeal to all.

Sergio’s sooooooo cheap that his ideal meal for the family is the dollar value meal menu at the local fast food joint! (BA-da-bun!)

Baldo, don’t be cheapskate. You got a job, why don’t you take your family out for dinner?

Ihaven’t seen him work in weeks.

He probably made manager and got laid off the following week due to the recession.

I must be like Sergio. I can take my family to a Major fast food place and everyone get a processed meat patty, fries and a soda. OR I could spend the same amount of money and buy 8 oz rib eye steaks, bake potatoes, some sort of veggie and still have enough to also make or buy desert. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out which one I’d do.

PEOPLE … you will spend over 3 times the amount of money by going out to eat vs what you can prepare yourself at home. Cooking is easy and satisfying. Do you really know what they do to your food in restaurant kitchens ?

“Do you really know what they do to your food in restaurant kitchens?”
Yes. Treat it with all the caution required by the local board of health or risk citation/fine/closure. Next stupid question?

I think Baldo just wants some Chinese food once in awhile. That’s why I go out, to eat things that I don’t know how to cook.

Cosmo, can Baldo not ask Carmen to make some international (such as Chinese, Indian, Italian…) food once in a while?

Ha ha someone thinks that when you go out they treat your food with respect. I used to work in a kitchen at a restaurant and I saw a guy drop a salmon filet on the floor. He picked it up looked at it and brushed off the hair and whatever didn’t look like seasoning and put it on the plate. Order up!!
