I hope that that look you’re giving him Gracie, bores a hole right through his back…

I have a feeling she’s gonna put a hole in his back – with the guitar neck!

Perhaps it’s time to practice in your own room with the door shut?

You are making a big mistake Baldo. A little encouragement goes a long, long way; whereas, sadly, any slight humiliation may have lasting emotional scars.

Gracie, ignore Baldo. He’s just jealous that you can actually sing and play at the same time.

wildmustang La Cucaracha is an actual song. I remember singing it–badly–as a kid down on the Mexican border. I barely remember the words, Hispanic or English, but I think it’s about a cockroach not having to work. Someone can correct/update me if they know more…what a childhood memory. La cucaracha. La cucaracha! mumble mumble mumble hummm….

Here is the noted poet Carl Sandburg’s discussion of the song. Included are both the verses in Spanish and their English translations:

Oh really! It must be cool but I think it is so funny to call a cockroach “La Curcaracha” :-)

Sternvogel, Thank you for the fascinating link On la Cucaracha! Its perspectives like this that make history interesting. Too bad we weren’t taught this way in elementary (or any other) school.
Alos interesting to note the off-hand reference to the “Reefer madness” that later swept the country.

Oh yeah, Jon I second that statement.

About the strip, I don’t know why, but I love the look on Gracie’s face in the last panel. When I see that look on my sister’s face, I bolt in the other direction.
