Baldo is our first comic strip that features Latino characters and themes. Baldo lives with his parents and works at Auto Y Rod, Inc., selling car parts. Through his daily exploits in the world of girls, cars, and little sisters, readers will learn just how well they can identify with this teen. Writer Hector Cantú and artist Carlos Castellanos have given us a comic strip whose warmth and gentle humor will appeal to all.

I don’t blame a business for doing what must be done, but BOY, do I hate weasel-wording like “right-sizing”. It’s an insult to everyone’s intelligence.

Yeah, right-size. Ever hear when right-size meant increasing the payroll. I HATE political-correctness; it seems so smug.
prasrinivara said, 7 months ago
pschearer, Bill Case: both on the nail–“right sizing” or “making redundant” (British term) sounds like a Chamberlain’s (as in Neville) approach for “laying off”.
Rod should have dumped Joey long ago instead of promoting him, but instead he axes Baldo.

This could be good…once Baldo’s gone, nothing will get done and Mr. Rod will realize what an idiot he’s been to let him go! Perhaps he’ll be begging Baldo to come back :P

He’s gonna fire Joey!!…Rod CANNOT be that STUPID!!…PLEASE!!??

well OPCgnat if baldo gets cut - and mr rod does finally see the light and ask baldo to come back, baldo should hold out for a pay raise.

Mr.Rod should keep Baldo and Beatriz and fired Joey for lousy worker and manager. Baldo, bite your tongue because Mr.Rod looks serious about his business to keep alive.

Does anyone see the possibility that he’s going to tell Baldo that he already fired joey and he (Baldo) will now be wearing two hats at the company??

mditoro-that’s what I think is going to happen.

Good bye Chevy Rag top time.

If Rod was going to lay off Beatriz, he wouldn’t call Baldo into his office. It’s not his business. So this is either about Baldo being laid off, or replacing Joey.
@PSChearer - love your term “Weasle wording”!

almadPro says:
He’s gonna fire the girl. It’s an anti-anglo strip and Rod has to be the racist sexist white guy who favors the lazy stupid Joey white guy. Chooses latino guy over girl cause he’s sexist……. almad, this is far from an anti-anything strip, on the overall it is a very upbeat philosophy that reigns here. Also Mr. Rod is himself Latino. Sexist? possibly, but I doubt it, just not too aware.
