Baldo is our first comic strip that features Latino characters and themes. Baldo lives with his parents and works at Auto Y Rod, Inc., selling car parts. Through his daily exploits in the world of girls, cars, and little sisters, readers will learn just how well they can identify with this teen. Writer Hector Cantú and artist Carlos Castellanos have given us a comic strip whose warmth and gentle humor will appeal to all.

That was sad the way she died.

It looks like my comment from yesterday was half right. Now a pair of skeletal hands will thrust up out of the ground, grab the kids by the ankles, and drag them to the underworld.

A Halloween story with a Christmas ending - very nice Mr. C, great twist (LOADS better than I expected) and a nice reminder that being dead doesn’t change your feelings for your loved ones. And as usual, poor runar just can’t handle someone having a nice moment without trying to throw cold water on it, oh well.

And then they woke up and it was all a dream!
Happy Day of the Dead, everyone!

Now I understood why El Muerto, the spirit, tried to reach out Baldo and Gracie about their mother’s grave. It would be very honor and cherish to remember their mother. Their papi should tell them about their mother’s grave?

From wikipedia:
The Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos in Spanish) is a holiday celebrated mainly in Mexico and by people of Mexican heritage (and others) living in the United States and Canada. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and relatives who have died.

Wildmustang: Papi has discussed their Mother with them in years past, usually around Mother’s Day.

Most christian holidays were placed on or around existing pagan holidays. In attempting to convert pagans they appeased them by allowing them to keep their traditions with a new spin.

cost of putting candy into some stupid teenager with no costume’s bag - ‘bout 50 cents.
Cost of seeing a little, first time in a cute costume, eyes round as dinner plates looking at the jack o lantern…priceless

Marg, I never thought that Papi already talked to his kids about their mother. I should have shut myself up lols!
Jehovah’s Witness doesn’t believe any holidays because they think the holidays (pagens) are evil. I was not sure if that spelling word is correct or not. Scoffs! JW is full of B.S. I never like that kind of religion, though.

This is one of the most underated strips. I hope it receives the same respect 20 years from now that “Peanuts”, Dennis the Menace”, “Family Circus”, and “For Better and For Worse” have received.
