Animals are just like people in a way…preferring to eat what tastes good rather than what is healthy and good for us. Stuff like that “meow mess” is probably the kitty equivalent to eating at Mcdonald’s, lol.

Our cats have never been finicky and were always happy with whatever they found in their bowl

Too happy, Boots is a big boy but at 18 pounds he’s a bit too big

Diet food hasn’t gone over too well, “someone” has knocked the food bowl off the counter three times since we switched food

We only have one cat now, but we generally have had at least three. They ate what they got before somebody else took it right out from under their noses.
Our vet told us to mix string beans with the dog’s kibble to help her drop a few pounds, and she very carefully removed each bean and dropped it on the floor. Dried string beans are very hard to scrape up.

I guess she would know that both the cat & Arlo like to eat stuff that smells like fish.

Nibbling on a little “meow mess” now and again is good for a guy! I do hate coughing up the little hairs.

And the cat is thinking ‘I am just into that fancy feasting’.

Well as far as the cat, I think the premium food supplied by his master would smell like fish with salmon in it.

As far as Arlo’s preferences, can’t comment on that in a public forum like this.

None of my dogs have been willing to eat vet or “healthy” foods. Reminds me of the joke about why vegans are so skinny…

:-) Just like my husband cleverly removes all the little stuffed-olive slices from his “1905” salad (it’s delicious – Google it).
Many dried foods are hard to scrape off the floor. I suggest putting a wet paper towel over them and letting it soak awhile. Re-dampen the towel if necessary, till you can easily wipe up the food

Add mice and chipmunks to the contents and see what happens….

The “meowmess” from the grocery probably tastes better with all of its added sugar and flavor enhancers.

So the time spent picking out beans is time spent not eating — is that the idea?
