If Gus’s plan was to have someone else break the news to Mary Lou so he wouldn’t have to, it seems to working just fine.

I know a few guys like that- couldn’t keep their mouth shut with super glue. Doesn’t anyone live by the man code any more?:(

If Gus really needed this kept secret, he wouldn’t have told Gene. There was really no reason for him to tell Gene in the first place.

He actually didn’t keep his word, there’s no story in that.

He is in trouble because he made the promise in the first place.

Memo to Gene: When you walk into a minefield, it is best to get out as soon as you can.

I think Gene should have listened to Warren Zevon sing “Lawyers, Guns and Money”

Well, I went home with the waitress
    The way I always do
    How was I to know
She was with the Russians, too

    I was gambling in Havana
    I took a little risk
    Send lawyers, guns and money
Dad, get me out of this

    I’m the innocent bystander
    Somehow I got stuck
Between the rock and the hard place
And I’m down on my luck
And I’m down on my luck
And I’m down on my luck

    Now I’m hiding in Honduras
    I’m a desperate man
    Send lawyers, guns and money
The s*** has hit the fan

    Send lawyers, guns and money…

    Worth noting:
“I went home with the waitress”
    “I took a little risk”
“Dad get me out of this”
“I’m the innocent bystander, Somehow I got stuck between the rock and the hard place and I’m down on my luck”
    “I’m a desperate man”
“The s*** has hit the fan”

So, maybe we can get Meg and Ludwig involved in this, as well?

Maybe there is no sale and the whole thing is a test to see if Gene would tell his wife or not. And, IMO, he failed. You never ever keep a secret from your spouse, no matter what it is and no matter who told you to keep it secret. (Not counting classified documents, of course.)

Yes, of course… the real issue is that Gene should not have talked about Gus’s business and his plans with anyone…. because that is what Gus asked (at least in terms of MaryLou). When people are told something in confidence, they should evaluate VERY CAREFULLY if they should tell the information to anyone else (99+% of the time, the answer is NO) and if they do tell, are the people they will tell at least 99+% likely to keep it to themselves (usually not, so it is best to not tell).
