Our oldest is 18. That makes him 88 in human years according to about.com and the yahoo animal site. The other boy is 15, that’s 76 in human years, same as my husband. I’m the youngest in my household now. :)

My only cat made it to 14.5. I still haven’t really got over it since I had the “kitten” since I was 20

One of our many cats (at one point, we had 17 at home) died two years ago – she was 22!

My last cat, Andrew (I didn’t name him), made it to 19. He was senile and incontinent (both ways) and had to be put to sleep.

When you live alone, pets are just SO important. One of my uncles missed getting that “gene”. When my grandmother lost her pet of many, many years, she mourned him as much as she mourned the loss of her husband. My uncle just didn’t get it. My dad told him, “When Pop died she still had Pugs to talk to. Now she has no one.” “Well, she still has us.” “Do you live there? Do you sit beside her while she watches TV?” “Well, no.” “OK, then.”

A good lesson here. Too many people who have had pets for years start taking them for granted. They should stop and take the time to hug them. They will be gone before you know it.

This is true, but you still miss them terribly and cry for a long time when they are gone.

Clio is eight, Diana six, Mrs. Murphy and Clawed-It three, Madam Mao two. I have five rescue kittens that are nine weeks old, and think that they run the place.
