Is that a root ball attached to the greenery in the background? On first glance, I throught it was a mutated Shmoo (Al Capp “Li’l Abner” reference for the non-US stater readers).

Worked like a charm on the robin that was trying to build a nest between my gutter downspout and front porch post… :)

I think it’s supposed to be a squirrel going headfirst into the greenery.

Even when you have a reputation for it, you can still find a realistic looking critter to “wake” sleepy morning people…Go ahead, ask me how I know…

I don’t get this one at all … why did she jump? What is her expression in panel 3? Hopefully those answers will explain panel 4 beyond the obvious fake snake comment…

There are fake snakes you can buy for your garden, they are supposed to keep birds and other small animals (snake prey) out of the garden.

The fake snake in their garden gave Janis quite a fright, but seems to have no effect on the birds and squirrels.

It’s not clear to me whether Arlo put the snake there without warning Janis, or if she just forgot it was there. I’m guessing he did it, because she seems to be inspecting it closely in panel 3 to see if it’s real.

IMO, the snake is the gardeners friend….
.I’d even have snakes in the house, if they could eradicate the stink bugs..
Its the deer and the rabbits, sometimes the birds who are a problem…
    Control is the answer.
I’ll never forget how some birds spread my strawberries to an unusual location….I pulled out these plants and gave them away…my cost was one or two berries…

Shortly after moving to Oregon I saw a big brown rubber snake in my meadow. Except it was moving. GIS “Rubber Boa”

I used to work with a young lady who loved to scare her coworkers with a fake cockroach. She would bring it out once every couple of months for the gag. Every now and then we would hear her scream. She’d open one of her cubical drawers and scare herself with it.

That’s funny! It reminds me of a prank that was pulled on me some years ago. I was at a get-together and I was showing off my new digital watch’s built-in TV/Cable remote. But as I was trying to control the box with it, nothing was working like it should. Well, this smart-aleck kid was using the other remote to mess me up and everyone was chuckling at my confusion.
