   More often it’s the other way around; look up ‘regulatory capture’. For example, the FDA was created to further the interests of the big meat packers.

   Just don’t confuse the actual government employees who try to do what’s best for the citizens with the appointed people who only care about the industry they came from and/or are going to return to.

    … As opposed to people who are seeking to further control over their fellow citizens. Of course those “independent” experts are pure as the driven snow. After all, they are only dependent upon government grants to fund their research and there would be no self interest in who gets the government grants. Nope, completely independent all the way. You bet.

    For every expert, there is an equal and opposite expert.
