From the salmon-colored sofa that is the center of the Arlo & Janis universe, this unique and quixotic comic strip has been just about everywhere. From unvarnished human drama to flights of unfettered comic fantasy, from unabashed pathos to unsurpassed observational wit, Arlo & Janis is perhaps the most unpigenholeable comic strip ever. It also invents new words!
The characters Arlo and Janis have played the parts of mermaids, squirrels, alligators and grasshoppers over the years, all while exploring the unexaggerated human condition and managing to become, with their son Gene, perhaps the most believable family in the funny pages. This unique approach has garnered Arlo & Janis an intelligent and engaged readership and guaranteed that a percentage of it will be confused at any given moment. However, readers eagerly return every day for another quaff from what has been the holy grail for a generation of comic-strip authors: quintessential Boomer humor.

I am grateful for all the bowl games. Pretty soon there won’t be much on except the NBA until baseball starts again.

But it’s the Chick-fil-A bowl now, not the Peach Bowl!

I’m with Arlo. I’ve lost all interest in collage football. The old system was much better. It was more fun to argue about which team was the best in the Nation.
And all of the bowl games should be over by January 2.

What’s the difference between the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Kellogg’s Corn Flakes?
The corn flakes do better in a bowl!

Ain’t nothin’ like watchin’ a 7-5 team playing a 6-6 team (that has long ago fired it’s head Coach) in the “Consolation Bowl” or the “Endless Sponsorship Opportunity Bowl” put up a totally useless and skill-less game……..and there are quite a few of them this year.
.
Drain another one Arlo…..it’s NYD and you’re not going anywhere.
.
Happy New Year to all and may we all get as lucky as Arlo in 2013.

Sports all suck, and are nothing but a waste of time & money. Anyone that likes them needs mental help/

I can remember when there were only 4 or 5 bowl games…

…and now we have a bowl where a team with a LOSING record (GT-6-7) beat USC Monday.

Most of the games are on ESPN and the once-major broadcast networks push reruns and feel-good nonsense retrospectives. Comics are better, even reruns!
