We should respect the civil liberties of terrorists not because they deserve it, but because we are better people than they are.

As to respecting the civil rights of terrorists… Foreigners are treated as guests by most countries, but once it’s clear they are terrorists they are treated as invaders without civil rights. Are we “better” or “foolish” to treat foreign invaders as we do citizens?
SusieSchroeder said, 4 months ago
They consider themselves enemy combatants, and we should treat them that way. Enemy combatants that are not in uniform are by defitition spies on foreign territory. IE, no civil rights at all. :p

@Massha – Thanks for covering for me today.
@Trucker Ron – Interesting question, Ron. I’ve wondered if we might need to rethink this matter some, myself.

Looks like the ‘monster worm’ has been given the ‘gift’ of sentience?
Night-Gaunt49 said, 4 months ago
We should respect the rights of all people. Accused and not. Most people taken as “terrorists” are not in fact that. But without any legal proceedings it just becomes a kangaroo court if there ever is one.

Looks like part of Sky Net is activating or is that Dr. Dark’s machinations?

@SusieSchroeder
There was no such designation as “enemy combatant” till Bush created it then called it “unlawful.” Done to circumvent the legal niceties of International Law the USA is a part to.
